Why Support the Brain Injury
Association of Canada's Hawaiian Oyster Odyssey?
The Brain
Injury Association of Canada (BIAC) would like to invite you to be a
sponsor of its Hawaiian Oyster Odyssey FUNdraisers being held across
Canada in 2006.
As you may
know, brain injury is the leading cause of death for Canadians under
the age of 45. BIAC's mandate is to improve the quality of life for
all Canadians affected by acquired brain injury, as the impact of
such injuries can be devastating to both survivors and their
families. Facilitating education and promoting prevention are also
key goals for the organization. Your sponsorship will help support
the lives of thousands of Canadians who suffer from an acquired
brain injury.
The
Hawaiian Oyster Odysseys are annual FUNdraising events organized by
BIAC supporters and are made possible purely through volunteer
efforts. As part of BIAC's ongoing mandate to work in partnership
with national, provincial and regional brain injury associations,
this years' events will be held in seven cities across Canada, in
addition to Toronto. All the events will be attended by
professionals and executives from various industries, leading
politicians, Olympians and well-known community leaders. In Toronto,
we have confirmed a number of community leaders including Canadian
football legend and brain injury survivor Terry Evanshan as well as
Canada's Minister of Public Health, the Honourable Carolyn Bennett
and Ontario Minister of Health and Long-term Care, the Honourable
George Smitherman.
Last year's
Hawaiian Oyster Odyssey in Toronto was a remarkable success and over
95% of ticket revenues and sponsorship dollars received by BIAC went
directly to the cause. This year, we would like to invite you to be
part of this venture and share in the joy of thousands of families
that stand to benefit from these events.
